Breast Cancer Metastasis

One month ago I woke up in the middle of the night with a killer migraine, drenched in sweat. I immediately ran to the bathroom to vomit. The next day I had a headache and felt tired but no other symptoms. My oncologist suggested I get labs done and all my labs were normal except an elevated LDH.

I got a chest CT just to check for anything funny.

Unfortunately the CT showed multiple spots in my lungs and lymph nodes. Lung biopsy was done confirming triple negative breast cancer in my lungs, meaning it would be stage 4. My doctor said that anything could happen, however, typically folks only live about 2-3 years post diagnosis with treatment when TNBC is in the lungs.

But wait there's more.....

Did a brain MRI for a "baseline" which is normal for folks with metastatic cancer. Brain MRI showed multiple small spots. We cannot biopsy these spots so instead I am scheduled for a lumbar puncture tomorrow (6/16).

WHEW.

It has been such a nightmare and Andrew and I are rolling with it the best we can. We appreciate the support we are receiving from everyone and will continue to keep you posted.

We are currently requesting second opinions from UCSF and Stanford and will keep our eyes peeled for clinical trials.
